These are families who have experienced extreme disadvantage, trauma and vulnerability.
Often they are unable to afford food and basic necessities.
More than anyone, they deserve to have a gift to make them feel cared for
and a special meal to share with loved ones this holiday season.
All it takes is a few clicks, and you can change someone’s Christmas.
Will you join us this year?
You can give a gift, which could include books, toys, games or funds for a gift voucher for a teen.
Or you can help us create a hamper by donating nonperishable food items fit for a festive feast. All contributions are welcome, no matter your means or budget.
Alternatively, a tax-deductible cash donation will help us to continue to provide our life-changing services to many more families in 2023.
For over 10 years our Merry Mission Appeal has assisted more than 5,000 local families and children who, through no fault of their own, struggle during the festive season.
Merry Mission aims to bring real joy and happiness to the local children and families in our community who receive services and support from us.
Many have experienced extreme disadvantage, trauma, and vulnerability, and are unable to afford food and necessities, let alone Christmas gifts.
University graduate May married young and dreamt of pursuing post graduate studies. After marriage and the birth of her two children, Cherry and Timon, her husband would not allow her to study and became increasingly abusive and controlling.
May knew she needed to take action to protect herself and her young children but she also knew that by leaving her dangerous home situation she and her children would face homelessness.
“It was really hard. I had no friends or family here for support at that time,” she says.
Luckily, May, Cherry and Timon were referred to Windermere. Thanks to their determination and with our support, this Christmas they are finally safe and slowly rebuilding their lives.
“We wouldn’t have had a Christmas without Windermere. I couldn’t believe it when T’ea turned up with all the food and presents. It meant the kids could have a real Christmas and we even had a proper meal for mum,” Claire, Merry Mission 2019 recipient.
