Need nurturing, high quality family day care?

Windermere’s Family Day Care service provides the benefits of a home-away-from-home child care setting with meticulous standards and quality controls.

Family Day Care offers high quality learning and care for children from six weeks of age to 12 years old in an educator’s own home. Some of the advantages of Family Day Care are the non-standard, flexible hours and low child to educator ratios. This enables educators to often build special and long lasting relationships with the children in their care.

Educational Program Coordinator Robyn Sheridan is one of the team members responsible for ensuring that Windermere’s Family Day Care educators are adequately resourced and operating within the national educational framework guidelines. These are the same national regulations that centre-based child care operators must meet.

Safety and compliance are a central pillar of Windermere’s Family Day Care operations. Robyn works to monitor and support Windermere’s Family Day Care educators to meet their legislative and curriculum requirements.

Robyn also supports educators to plan for children’s learning and development.

“We use professional development to identify problems and concerns and support our educators to find and use appropriate resources,” says Robyn.

Robyn visits educators regularly and maintains regular contact with them.

“I enjoy the contact with the children and getting to know the families,” she says. “It’s great to be able to be able to see the educators put into practice the professional development or resources you are able to connect them with,” says Robyn.

At a minimum, she makes site visits to the educators every three weeks. “We have regular themes for our visits which cover subjects such as ‘Safety in the home’ or educational matters,” she says.

Educators find that operating their Family Day Care business under the Windermere umbrella provides a sense of security and support.

“Operating my business with Windermere gives me the security that I am operating under an accredited service and they will help me stay up to date with all the regulations and training that I need,” says Family Day Care Educator Jegatha Ganeshanathan.

Jegatha, enjoys the regular contact with Windermere, which includes emails, phone calls a newsletter and regular visits from Robyn, or another member of the Windermere team.

Jegatha also benefits from a range of Windermere supports. This includes overseeing first aid training and safety checks. Windermere also facilitates connections to other family day care educators and the sharing of resources, such as news articles and a closed social media educators page.
