It was a crisp start to the day, but that didn’t deter the 70 odd golfers who teed off at Victoria Golf Club on 3rd May in the annual Windermere Classic.
Their commitment paid off as the morning wore on and the sun peeked through the clouds to reveal a lush
course in prime condition. The day was a huge success, with activities to test even the best handicap, followed by a delicious lunch and auction at the Club House to top off the day.
Congratulations go to Chris Canavan who took the Perpetual Trophy for a second time, along with
teammates Simon Riordan, Tony Trumble and Geoff Sowden.
As well as a great day out, this year’s Classic raised over $34,000 to support children and families dealing with violence. Everyone dug deep and helped us raise enough funds to provide 12 families with much needed support services, such as counselling and housing, to keep them safe.
The generosity of our sponsors contributed greatly to this amazing result - our Platinum sponsor Zagame
Automotive, without whom this event would not be possible, Gold sponsors Parklea & Facey Industrial, Tarmac Civil Construction, G&K O’Connor and Commonwealth Bank and Silver sponsors, Berwick Motor Group and Grossi & Cardamone.
As always, your participation and donations will continue to give hope and courage to those feeling family
violence.
As a long-time supporter of Windermere I’ve seen the impact our participation at the Classic makes to
families whose lives have been turned upside down due to violence. It helps make a change for the better in the
community.
