Redress Support Program

Support for victim survivors of historical institutional childhood sexual abuse

Our redress support program is a program for victim-survivors of historical institutional childhood sexual abuse. Our support workers can support you before, during and after you apply for redress. We can provide rapid access to information about the National Redress Scheme and help identify individual support needs.

Service Overview

Our support workers offer a trauma informed listening ear, clarify the next steps and streamline the process for victim survivors who may benefit from having a support person during the process.


Services include:


Ongoing emotional and practical support via telehealth and / or outreach

Support to complete the Redress Scheme application

Advocacy and case coordination

Other services required according to the individual support plan

Link victim survivors to the local Redress Support Service (if that is not Windermere)


Windermere can provide ongoing support for victim survivors and all services are confidential.

Cost

This support service is free.

This program is funded by the Commonwealth Government through the Department of Social Services.

Who does the National Redress Scheme help?

Any Victorian resident who is a victim survivor of historical institutional childhood sexual abuse.            

You can apply if:

  • you experienced sexual abuse when you were under 18 years old
  • the abuse happened before 1 July 2018
  • an institution was responsible for bringing you into contact with the person who abused you
  • you were born before 30 June 2010
  • you are an Australian citizen or a permanent resident.
