Give families and children a reason to smile this Christmas

When David and his two young children turned to Windermere they were on the brink of homelessness and desperate for support.

David’s world collapsed around him after his partner left him. His son Nigel age 9 has complex medical and disability needs due a rare genetic disorder and his daughter Lisa age 16 is distressed with the constant upheavals.*

David is determined to keep them safe, but due to Nigel’s extensive care needs and his poor health after surviving a heart attack, he can no longer work.

Nigel and Lisa are at risk with no place to call home.

Couch surfing at his father’s home, David knows the living conditions are far from ideal. Nigel who uses a wheelchair doesn’t have the support for his complex needs. His father is grieving after losing his wife and the household is emotionally strained.

Time is running out for David, Lisa and Nigel.

This Christmas, will you help vulnerable families look forward to a future they deserve?

“For the first time in years I can breathe again.”

David, father of two

With our support

David found relief from the imminent risk of homelessness.

We sprang into action and found a medium term housing solution and ensured the right modifications were in place for Nigel through NDIS and disability services.

We also organised mental health support for Lisa to help her find emotional stability amidst the changes.

Our support continued until David found permanent housing with a range of support needs in place.

Today, David, Nigel and Lisa have settled into their new life. Nigel is now exceeding expectations in his progress and Lisa is thriving and exploring her higher education opportunities.

There are many others like David and his children
struggling to emerge from complex challenges.
