Psychology

Our psychologists provide a space for you to think about your child’s emotional and psychological needs. We work with you, your child and your family to develop the skills your child needs to build emotional resilience, positive behaviours and good mental well-being.  We provide service to children and youth aged 0 – 18 years.

We offer standardised assessments and evidence informed strategies to support your child to address the challenges they face.

We may work directly with your child, however, the most effective change is usually seen when we work with you, your family and anyone else in your child’s life to support their needs.

We can help your child with:

  • Positive behaviour support - learning new skills so they can manage their behaviour in a range of situations. You may find this useful if your child’s behaviour is so disruptive that it significantly affects their (and your) daily life.
  • Emotional regulation - helping them manage and control their emotions more effectively. You may find this useful if your child experiences extreme tantrums, anger, fear or isolation.
  • Social skills – supporting them to get along better with others. You may find this useful if your child struggles to make friends, understand social rules or keep themselves safe in the community.
  • Coping strategies - to better deal with anxiety. You may find this useful if your child has a phobia, finds being away from you very difficult or finds change stressful.

We also help you through:

  • Parenting strategies – supporting you to better understand your child’s needs with helpful ways to implement these strategies.
  • Adjustment - helping the whole family adapt to the changing needs of your child. You may find this useful if your child has recently been diagnosed with a disability or you are struggling to meet the competing demands within your family.
  • Positive behaviour support plans – identifying strategies aimed at reducing behaviours of concern at home or at school.

Our psychologists are based in the Southern Victoria region. We have offices at Berwick, Narre Warren, Cranbourne and Pakenham. We can also work with you and your child at your home, school or pre-school. For information about telehealth consult options in the inner Gippsland region please contact 03 8793 4267.
