ELC and kinder children graduate together

Nine young kindergarten graduates who commenced at Windermere Early Learning Centre in Frankston as babies will achieve a special landmark at the end of 2017.

Poppy, William, Frankie, Maali, Allira, Heathcliff, Peta, Annabelle and Lorienne, who are now five and six years old, have all attended the centre since its first year of operation in 2013.

The children will be part of Windermere’s Early Learning Centre’s foundation graduation year.

“”It’s really fun here. There is always lots to do,” said 5 year old Maali about the program.

Windermere’s Centre Director Sarah Dowling, along with two other team members, Navi and Jamie have also been at the Centre since it opened in February 2013.

“It’s hard to imagine that the children we first met as babies are about to graduate kindergarten. The early years play a significant part in children’s development and we have been privileged to be able to nurture and care for these children as we support them in their learning and life journeys,” said Sarah.

Sarah says one of the key reasons families stay with Windermere Early Learning Centre is that they support both children and families.

“We build strong relationships with families, it’s as much about supporting them as the children,” she said.

Windermere’s Early Learning Centre operates a three and four year old kindergarten program within a long day care centre setting.

The Centre is unique in Melbourne’s South East because it offers a groundbreaking educational approach which has made dramatic improvements to learning outcomes. The Abcedarian approach is designed to assist children to meet developmental milestones and become school ready.

“We introduced the Abecedarian Program in our Kindergarten program earlier this year. It focuses on language development and learning games and we have already seen wonderful improvements in the learning and developmental outcomes of the children,” said Kathryn Rothaker, Early Childhood Teacher.
