Meet Billy, Senior Support Coordinator

We sat down with Billy to learn more about his role and how he works to support people on the NDIS.

What do you do on a typical day at Windermere?

I help people to navigate the NDIS while building their capacity to do this themselves on an ongoing basis. I have lots of conversations to establish how they feel the system can best integrate with their lives in the long term. This involves lots of strong collaboration and communication across many different platforms, with a variety of stakeholders, and always with our consumers front and centre.

What is your background?

I have now supported people in the Disability Industry for over 20 years. During that time I have worked in many different roles including being a Teacher’s Aide in kinder and primary school settings, an Individual Support Worker, a Day Program Team Leader, Employment Services Consultant, Placement Coordinator and Mentor (for Certificate IV students), a Residential Coordinator and now, Senior Support Coordinator. I have loved all of these roles and continue to enjoy the learnings, challenges, highlights and connections each new opportunity brings.

What do you enjoy about Support Coordination?

I love being invited to help people make positive changes to their lives.

What do you enjoy about working at Windermere?

Windermere has always had a great reputation for the numerous ways in which they passionately support their community and their staff. After being here over three years now I can absolutely see why.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I love spending time with my wife and daughter, doing anything really, they are both amazing. My other great lifelong passion is being a vocalist/musician. My previous band “Waking Eden” has just called it a day after many achievements over 11 years. I currently have several projects on the go with my new collaboration project “Donovan” and a new band called “Kings of Mercury”.
